The seal

A seal is a narrow, checkable promise about where a photo or video came from. We'd rather tell you exactly what it covers than overstate it.

How a post is sealed

From the shutter to the seal.

01

Captured in the app

Photos and videos come only from the Clickseal camera. There's no gallery button and no way to bring a file in from outside.

02

Signed on the phone

At the moment of capture, the phone signs the file, and when it was taken, with a key locked inside its secure hardware. The key never leaves the phone.

03

Checked by our server

When you post, our server checks the file, the signature, and that the phone passed Apple's or Google's genuine-device check. Only then is the post sealed.

What it means

What the seal proves, and what it doesn't.

A seal proves

  • ✓
It was captured with the Clickseal camera, not uploaded from a gallery.
  • ✓
It was captured on a genuine phone.
  • ✓
Not a single byte has changed since it was captured.

A seal doesn't prove

  • ×
    That the scene wasn't staged.
  • ×
That the camera wasn't pointed at a screen.Every post goes through our screen detection for that. How it works
  • ×
The exact capture date. That comes from the phone's clock.
Edits

Edits are shown, never hidden.

Posts can be trimmed, reordered, sped up or slowed down, and given text, stickers or sound. Those edits never change the sealed files: they're instructions the player follows on top of them, so the originals stay exactly as they were captured.

Tap What changed on any post to see exactly what was done. Added sound is always labelled "not original audio".

More about SealEdit, the Clickseal editor

Hard cuts only

No crossfades or effects that blend pixels. Every frame you see is a frame from a sealed original.

No filters, no AI

No colour filters, beauty effects or AI tools. What the camera saw is what you see.

Remixes are credited

Remixes and duets need your own footage, and always credit the original creator. The credit can't be removed.

Verify a post

How to verify a post.

Anyone can verify where a Clickseal post came from. No account is needed.

01

Find the Seal ID

It's the 8-character code under the picture, like 7C41D9AE. Downloaded copies show it too, as clickseal.app/v/ and the code.

02

Enter it

Type it into the box below, or go to clickseal.app/v and enter it there.

03

See where it came from

The original post, who filmed it, when, and anything that was edited.

If the code was never issued by Clickseal, the file didn't come from a Clickseal post, so treat it as unverified.
